Sereca announces today that the firm has recently integrated with Larden Muniak Consulting Inc, a Toronto-based building code and fire protection firm. The full press release follows:

Sereca Fire Consulting Ltd. are leaders in Fire Engineering and Investigation, with offices in Vancouver, Calgary and Singapore. The firm has recently integrated with Larden Muniak Consulting Inc., a Toronto based building code and fire protection firm. All key staff will continue under the current management and both firms will continue to operate as separate entities until full integration can be realized.
Sereca Fire Consulting Ltd. has been providing authoritative, cost-effective solutions for the most complex issues in fire and life safety. Since 2003, Sereca has strategically expanded domestically and internationally in service to a wide international client base. In the past year alone, the firm has acquired significant design work throughout Canada, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, India, Malaysia and Singapore and will investigate close to 400 large loss fires. Some of the firm’s most notable projects include the Canada Line in Vancouver, the Calgary Airport International Facilities Project, the Calgary West Light Rapid Transit Project, and the Sentosa Gateway Tunnel Project and the new International Cruise Ship Terminal in Singapore.

Sereca welcomes Andrew Coles as a Senior Engineer to our Vancouver office, focusing on Transit and Fire Design work. Andrew has performed leadership roles on a number of transit system projects while based in California and Australia. He has prepared technical papers on the heat release in rolling stock (train cars), flame spread and corresponding predictive methods, and the use of composites in performance based designs. Andrew holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a master's degree in fire engineering, and is a licensed engineer in California.

Sereca proudly hosted two seminars for the insurance industry, entitled "Critical Factors: Insights from the Experts", in Calgary on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, and in Edmonton on Friday, April 29, 2011. Michael Bodnar, managing engineer of Sereca's Calgary office, presented "Fundamentals of Fire Investigation in the New Century". He was joined by other experts presenting on current legal and claims topics. This seminar was accredited by the Alberta Insurance Council.

Sereca welcomes Terence Chuo, MEng (Fire Engineering), to our Singapore office to further support our design clients. Terence brings international experience from his work in New Zealand where he provided fire safety, fire protection, and evacuation advice to clients.

At the end of September, we continued our research program by participating in a live burn exercise at the old Manuel Quimper Motel in Sooke, on Vancouver Island. We use events like these to further our knowledge of fire behaviour. See here for more details.
